do you wake up if bus comes at 7:19

Anonymous
DS is in 1st grade. Bus comes at 810. He naturally wakes up at 6, goes downstairs and eats some cereal (he only eats it dry) and either spends some time on his Kindle or plays with toys. DH comes down around 7 and makes them eggs while DS gets himself ready. Then they eat eggs and some fruit, DS brushes his teeth while DH packs up his backpack. Depending on how they are doing on time they will play a game. Leave house around 8 to walk up the street to bus stop.

I work nights, hence why I'm not in the picture in the morning. If I am, DS usually comes into the bedroom at 6 and we play a game or watch a show together.

If you are waking your kids up, then they aren't getting enough sleep.

Start with an earlier bedtime so they are naturally awake by 6:30. That also saves them needing time to fully wake up.

Al I’m reading is that these kids who need extra time really just need screen time. Which is pretty sad.

My kids need 30 minutes to get ready. The commute time to school lets meds kick in for one, and lets the other zone out and watch a show/listen to music on his phone. It didn't take long for either of them to consider how to "use" their commute time in order to get some more sleep in the morning.

Our kids take an hour in the morning but never have screen time before school. Usually, they get up and while my partner makes breakfast, we get dressed and I help them with hair and sunscreen. We all sit down to breakfast together and then the kids brush teeth, put on shoes, sweatshirts/jackets and helmets and head out. There might be a little bit of time to play or read between getting ready and breakfast or between breakfast and brushing teeth, but some days there isn't extra time because getting ready or eating breakfast takes longer. We could definitely speed up the process, but I think we'd all be grumpy rushing the process.

Our kids have to leave for school between 7:30 and 7:35 to get there on time. We wake them up at 6:30. But, we all sit down to eat breakfast together and we could move faster. I think we could probably cut it down to wake them up closer to 7 but I hate rushing them and rushing myself.
exzczczvvcxx can we call him ruyrue when he is done at work so we are good with him being in bed and not being able and I have been working on the phone and he’s not working so I don’t think [mastodon]

hdfbfd [img]please

Same. Easily an hour, if not an hour and 15 minutes.

Or in this case, 5 years!

We held that schedule for all of ES with both kids, except we got in the car at 7:15. Woke up at 6:45, threw on clothes that were laid out, did hair, ate a quick breakfast, brushed teeth downstairs and left. For 10 years.

Until my kids leave for college, I will be up before them, making breakfast or just being available to chit chat as they get ready and out the door.

Who lets their kids watch TV in the morning before school?

For elementary school I would try to adapt to the child's rhythm, within reason. If you/your schedule has this luxury. It likely won't be one decision made in advance. Will take a week or so to live it. Our high school and middle school was the early schedule. During those ages, DH and I slept in. Tweens and teens got themselves up, out the door, and to school on time.

Team 35 minutes. Shiwer then sleep in next morning's clothes.
