Do you like those packing cubes/are they a good gift?

I am thinking of buying these as a Mother's Day gift for my mom who is traveling the week after Mother's Day. I have never used packing cubes, but I'd be happy to receive these/try these.

What do you think?

I like them, but I buy the sets that are like $20-$25 for 8-10 pieces (BAGAIL on Amazon) and I've been happy with them for vacations, my kids going to sleep away camp, etc.

$68 for 5 pieces seems silly to me, but maybe there's something about this brand I don't know about that makes it worth it to you.

I've started to use packing cubes for travel and like how they keep things separated and organized. I find I like cubes that are larger so I can get all my main clothes into cubes, so I would look for a set that has at least 2-3 large cubes with a couple medium and small cubes for shirts, pjs, underwear, socks, etc. Compare the set you found against choices on Amazon. (I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the set you found, just that for the same price, you may get more cubes if ordering from Amazon)

I think it's a lovely gift idea for a mom who travels. Go for it!

They definitely have a following but I feel like they are just a fad. I am a minimalist so it just seems like one more thing to me. It is not that hard to find a shirt in a suitcase. I just want one bag to keep dirty clothes separate.

I know some people are obsessed with them, but I tried using them and never really liked it. Maybe I'm just not organized enough to really use them to their full potential lol.

I love my packing cubes! But, honestly I wouldn't get them as a gift for someone else. I feel like people that aren't already interested them won't bother to try them even if they have them.

This. Everyone has their own system that works for them. I use them for some types of trips and love them, but I was particular about which ones and sizes I got to suit my needs, so I if I was given a set, I likely wouldn't use much.

I liked them because I could pack for trips with the family with them. I tended to segregate things by days (outfit, underwear, socks) and then split the cubes between suitcases and carryons. Everyone has a different color, so each suitcase has some from every color. If one bag goes astray, the bag that does arrive has something for everyone in it. When it’s just me, I still tend to put together entire outfits in a cube, which stops me from overpacking. I put everything I think I might want on my bed. I make outfits out of what is there, and when I run out of days, I add one tiny cube with some extra socks and undies and put everything else away. It also helps on the way home because it keeps it easier to segregate dirty clothes.

I agree with the others that Amazon has good ones for less money.

My mom, in her 70s, started used them for travel because it helps her to have things organized that way. Pants in one, tops in another, undergarments in a third, etc. s

I started using them when we travel as a family and share a suitcase. Everyone has one or two for their stuff. It makes it so much easier to find things. Ours are partially mesh so you can see what’s in them and also different colors, so everyone has a color.

It’s one of the rare gifts I would actually like.

Your mom is probably an Old Person. Hasn't she traveled enough in her life that she has a system and doesn't need to fix something that's not broken? I'd get that for someone who's a young adult/college/teen. But not a senior citizen unless they mentioned wanting it.

I love them and so does my Old Person mom. I use them for international travel so everyone has a cube and we can travel with carryons.

I love the compression ones from Biaggi. You can ratchet a lot of stuff in a small space!

Not for me. I'm an expert minimalist packer and do better without them. But a lot of people swear by packing cubes.

I love my packing cubes. Everybody in our family has their own color and it makes packing and finding our stuff so much easier. It keeps everything organized.

I got my first 13 years ago, but I am a huge traveler (e.g., international travel monthly). I love them. My husband doesn't.
