My kids' ES principal was flat out fired five years ago. Parents and teachers were very vocal about it (and 20% of the staff leaving in one year made it clear the principal was doing a really bad job).

Maybe he will get the Woodson opening?

I think I know the principal to whom you're referring. When it was discussed on this forum, some very posters blamed everything on the parents, even though staff was unhappy as well.

The principal quickly left FCPS, took a principal's job in another state, and quickly flamed out in that position as well. Now he's trying to sell real estate. The current principal at the school in question seems to be doing just fine.

Can confirm that we gave this woman a chance and she is terrible. As the library leader she needs to know about 4 regulations, and seems to not even understand the basics. Really unfortunate and uninspiring hire. Hope she goes back to a school or anywhere else.

+50. Rising to Incompeteny! It happens all over.

I don't think moving from an ES principal to a MS principal is considered a "promotion"--just a job switch.

I would like our ES principal to be fired.

I know for a verified fact that Bumbrey had multiple formal complaints from her assistant principals to HR about her treatment of them that were filed with FCPS 2 that I am directly aware of, and rumor has it that she left FCPS because of one in process at Fairfax Villa so she went to PWCS for a while. Then she left PWCS under a cloud of complaints and came back to FCPS because Parents and staff alike were mistreated by Bumbrey. Now that she resigned from FCPS Virginia Run school has a chance to recover fro being run into the ground and staff members fleeing due to her abuse. FCPS does counties no favors by hiding failing principals at other schools and central office

She got the boot from her principal position. It was for “making one parent mad” as the PP would have you think.

Interesting that VA Run's principal is still there. Many complaints from many parents.

No she isn't. Her last day was yesterday!

Wow well I hope for good things for that school now that she is gone.

Did she retire or does she now have a position in Gatehouse?

Time will tell. No one has said anything about where she's going next. I think everyone is just glad she's not there anymore.

Liz Bumbrey retired. It was announced. There was a retirement reception on October 30. You can see it posted in their News You Choose on the school website. Clearly you are not in the loop and are just here to complain from afar. Go you!

Ok, Liz. Enjoy retirement!

I think this is our ES. Rumor had it that she was addicted to painkillers after her surgery. The new principal has made some unpopular changes, but most parents love him.

Cub Run

Miller has low integrity and I can’t imagine her replacing anyone who wasn’t competent. Bring in someone worse? What a joke.

Liz was absolutely horrible. Rebecca Baenig let it happen-she did absolutely nothing. These people do not care about kids or staff.

Thanks for the Gatehouse update. Expected, but still sorry the staff has to deal with her.

It’s more responsibility and typically more kids. Is the pay higher to reflect this?

ES and MS principals are paid the same now. Some elementary schools are almost as big as a middle school, and ES principals were tired of getting less pay for the same work. While a MS principal may have more students, they also have more administrators on their team.
