To back to Israel and Iran, we have indications from the Israelis that they will strike Iran. We also have indications from the Iranians that if that happens they will strike back very quickly and very hard.

Maybe they didn’t want injuries? That would be consistent with their advance warning of many parties AND their declaration that they consider the matter settled with this salvo. The big response will come if the Israelis respond, especially if they insist, as they always have when responding to Palestinian violence, on inflicting massively more casualties. The international community will see the Israeli bloodlust and then a serious Iranian attack becomes a possibility.
