Great Falls Reston Soccer

Reston was not all that great on their own. Great falls was not all that great on their own. Both together = not that great.

Dumb dumb dumb. Their younger teams benefited immensely from consolidating the combined player pool. If you threw Chantilly, Herndon, Vienna and McLean into the same club with GFR, they would have a population pool akin to Arlington and Loudoun and would be substantially more competitive across age levels and genders. Until then, more incremental consolidation will result in more competition to be on top teams. Perhaps one and one does not equal three but it is more than two.

How does that translate to better quality coaching

The merger already attracted a pretty good coach from another club in my sons age group. Bigger player pools obviously can attract better coaches over time because they are more likely to coach better players on top teams. Not always true but often the case.

No too shabby

That is a solid boys team and the boys group to which I referred in above email. Coach came from another club and brought some really good young players with him.

The boys teams are decent, the girls teams aside from 2008 and 2009 are not.

Mike Dinuzzo is phenomenal. He runs the u9-u12 boys travel program and pre travel as well. He didn’t coach any u9 teams last year but he was around all the time and would fill in for coaches with conflicts. He did coach them during futsal season.

+100. Mike is outstanding. My son was lucky to have had him.

Sheesh. Not affiliated with this club but because the merger didn't wave a magic wand in one season then it is doomed to failure? These are long-term projects. Give them some time. The merged teams clearly are better than the previous ones that were separate and there are enough good kids in those areas to get better.

Not bad.

So they are 2nd in the state, but lost to Arlington's 2nd team in that age group? Something doesn't compute.

Ignore the post above, responded to the wrong team - was meant for U11 Boys - they lost to Arlington's top 2nd team and are ranked 2nd in state? That is a disconnect to me.

Many who have watched these teams would say that white is not Arlington’s second best team in that age group. They did quite well themselves if you look at results against same teams that red played. Rumor is that they have won their share of scrimmages against red in that age group. In any event, I don’t think people are saying the rankings are necessarily accurate, especially where performances from game to game can vary for kids that age. You also need to check their other results, and still other results in league are not reported at that age. But I have seen them play a few times. They are definitely comparable to any other top nova team in that age group.

Eh- they are good but comparable to other strong 2nd teams in the area --we played them a few times.

Weird that Arlington red did not place over Arlington white though...not sure how that happened (unless they did not compete)?
