NP. I have never understood responses like this. When people post $5 or $10 million homes, are the only people qualified to comment those who also live in $5 or $10 million homes? When there's an article about something the president did, are the only people qualified to comment those who have previously been president? It is actually a sign that someone cannot handle criticism, so instead of dealing with the criticism, they attack the person who posted it.

If you are going to come here and trash people’s houses, say that they have bad taste, I would assume that you have good taste, and should have the courage show your house to back it up.

I am not the pp but I agree with the assessment. I live in a 4000 sq ft, 3 floor turn of the (20th) century classical colonial with original pine floors, wood detailing, original stained glass, a library and a classic dining room with full French doors, 11-12 foot ceilings throughout. But who cares. I think the house under discussion here feels cheap looking, but not because it doesn’t look like mine (many many look better than mine of course anyhow). I also don’t think it is reasonable to ask for identifying details on an anonymous board. You are free to disagree with any poster’s assessment. Grow up.

Well, if you're going to be the arbiter of whether the criticism is fair, then we need to know your credentials. So please post all of your identifying details, including photos of your house, and we'll determine whether you're an appropriate judge for the occasion.

Chill out, seller! Go enjoy the $2.2 million you made from selling this house. I'm guessing you didn't go with the buyer who promised to actually live in your house, but instead sold to a LLC or developer who plans to tear it down.

Ugly exterior and the kitchen and bathrooms are just awful. Exterior hinges on those country kitchen cabinets? In a $2 Million house??? All I can think is that this house must be a teardown? An investor bought it, they're going to raze it and build a "modern farmhouse" 3x the size in its place?

It needs some updating -- presumably whoever paid that price has the money for that -- but it's a great house. One of the best features of Potomac is its inventory of large, well-planned (and well built) contemporary homes from the 1970s on good sized lots. Before DMV home fashions pivoted to the grotesqueries of Tara in the 1980s, McMansions in the 1990s and aughts, and Modern Farmhouse since then. It's kind of funny to listen to so many DCUM commenters draw themselves up in predictable disgust at a house that looks "dated" (yeah, so does the Robie House) or "poorly staged" (what, no West Elm tchotchkes?) - one assumes they're bottom feeders and not seriously in the market for high end homes.
