Why doesn't FCPS HAVE REAL 8TH GRADE GRADUATIONS?

Anonymous
I am sick and tried of hearing every other county in the nation, has a 8TH GRADE GRADAUTION. THEY WOULD WEAR A CAP AND GROWNS AND HAVE THE GRADUATION AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, OR A ARENA. WHERE THE TOWN OR CITY WILL HAVE A PARTY FOR THEM.

THEY WILL ALSO HAVE A LOT OF Dances, and PARTIES FOR GRADUTING 8TH GRADE.. WHY DOESN'T FCPS DO THIS?

THey have a small little dance and they don't even have GRADUTION where the kids would wear caps and
gowns why not? I am not going to email the school board anymore I am done with them. I emailed them enough this school year, just want to know why they don't do this?

If you're mad about it why don't you email them?
IF YOUR KIDS GRADUATED FROM 8TH GRADE DID THEY HAVE A REAL GRADUATION?
I just can't use social media and watch all this videos' of how kids have a real graduation in 8th grade. it breaks my heart because FCPS don't care about anyone beside high school seniors.

Why are you shouting? I don’t think MCPS does 8th grade graduations. At least not while I was in school during the 90’s. If you want something, throw a party for your child’s 8th grade class. Otherwise, sit tight for another 4 years. It will come before you know it!

You don't "graduate" from 8th grade, ffs.

This has to be a troll post. If not, OP probably never "graduated" from 6th grade.

(while we're at it, kids are not "promoted" either).

I seen all this TikTok taking about the class of 2020 never had a 8th grade graduation, and this year they will be graduation for the first time since they graduated 5th grade. I’m here thinking FCPS never had one ever. They did a promotion ceremony when they were promoted to 7th grade, but they didn’t have any caps and gowns. It was a very small event only 2 family members were invited do the event. It’s sad that FCPS is stealing so much from our kids.

MCPS is the FCPs of Maryland so of course they won’t do anything special either. What happens to the kids that never graduate high school? They won’t have a special day for them. For some kids graduating middle school it’s the only graduation they will have so we should have it.

Yeah chill out.

Why is finishing 8th grade a milestone?? I don’t get 8th grade graduations unless it is like a k-8 private school and the kids scatter to other schools.

Good for FCPS. Celebrate real achievement! And not add to the ridiculous non graduation trends. .

I went to FCPS back in the day. No one ever "graduated" from 8th grade. It's not an accomplishment to complete middle school - and OP you think kids should have graduations with caps and gowns?!

Graduations are for actual achievements and accomplishments - this culture of overly celebrating every little minor thing needs to end.

MCPS does not have any graduation ceremonies except for high school. My kids are in MCPS and one has graduated, so I know.

Also, there is no "graduation" until 12th grade. Passing from primary to secondary or from 8th to 9th is NOT graduating. No cap and gown.

Finally, and this is the crucial part:

You are crazy, OP.

OP- the different is we didn't have TikTok where we see videos of parents seeing their 8th grade graduate from middle school.

So you're a grown adult with kids? You're so stupid we doubting you're real, OP. Why are you on TikTok, home of the brain-dead?
Very few school systems have graduations ceremonies with gaps and gowns for the intermediary years. I don't know a single one, in fact. They all have low-key celebrations when kids go from one building to the next. Usually only 2 guests are allowed, for space purposes (and the two parents come).

Seriously. If you're not a troll, you are breathtakingly stupid.

So... you think the problem is FCPS, and not TikTok or social media? Time to parent your kids, OP. What on earth is wrong with you?

What? MCPS doesn't do 8th grade graduations.

1. No one wants that rigmarole every time there's a change of school, OP. It cheapens the college and graduate experiences of cap and gown.

2. Hardly any school system has cap and gown and all the tra-la-la for grades earlier than 12th, because see above.

3. You are going to seem very low-class if you start making a fuss about this. The upper crust knows good things come to those who wait. Unlike you, they have graduate degrees, so they've lived through many potential graduation events. So many, in fact, that a lot of people I know didn't even attend some of their own events, because it's just too much!

It's hard to describe how cringy and brainless you sound. Good thing you came to DCUM first, instead of looking like an idiot in front of whichever poor administrator has to read you emails.

I'll ignore your sentence about emailing the Board throughout the year. I hope you've stopped.

No one except YOU wants caps and gowns for kids younger than seniors.

Let that sink in.
