Aren't they too old for PJ day at school??

Anonymous
My 6th grader's class just won a class prize and it's pajama day....again. Any one else think it's inappropriate at this age to send the kids to school in pajamas? They are in their last year at elementary....I realize they are still kids but shouldn't it be time to start making the transition to middle school and get dressed like big kids for school?

Our middle school has pj day.

They are still in elementary school and it is just one day. I don't understand how it could confuse them about properly dressing like big kids for regular school days.

I HATE pj day. My boys don’t wear them so every year I’m buying pj’s just to wear to school. That said, no, they aren’t too old for this.

My husband is a teacher and his school had pj day. Teachers were expected to go in pjs so I am guessing that if a middle aged man can wear pjs than your sixth grader isn't too old. Most kids love it. I was never a fan really but, usually it is just once or twice a year.

My kids middle school has this. They clarify that it is really "lounge wear day" meaning things like fleece pants. No one has ever shown up wearing something inappropriate. Honestly the kids are more covered on pj day than any other day of the year.

Your sons could wear sweatpants and a t-shirt.

What do the kids in your 6th grader's class wear on the other 179+ days of school?

I hate pj day but I know I am outnumbered. It's usually the night before that I realize the kids pjs are all too small or too worn. Maybe I should have a stash of pjs only for pj day. The kids, the school, everyone seems to love it so I guess they just keep it going.

I'm curious too.

My high schooler wore sweat pants and a tshirt for pj day.

We still had a pj day during homecoming week every year in high school. So I vote not too old.

Our high school still has this. It is the student's favorite day.

Students' favorite day, and even teachers wear PJs.

No. If work had pajama day I'd be all in.
