Liquor store recommendation for hard-to-find bourbon

Anonymous
Can anyone recommend a liquor store in DC or close in MD I can go to tomorrow for a good bottle of bourbon for a birthday present - thinking the $100 range. I'm not expecting the $300+ bottles that people do the lottery for or wait in line overnight, but a store that regularly has some brands that aren't usually at the neighborhood liquor store. Or do I just need to go to a total wine or other mega store? TIA for any recommendations/advice.

Paul's wine and liquor in DC shut down unforutnately.

In MoCo, it's all controlled by the county, however, they do have $100 bourbon's in stock. Look on the shelf, and also ask them -- you may see some bottles kept on the shelf behind the counter.

Schneider's of Capitol Hill is my go-to. I haven't been there in a while, but they usually have a good selection or can point you in the right direction of something similar.

Calvert is usually good. Also try Addy Bassins on Macarthur.

There are a few:

P Street Liquors (1 West Dupont Circle)
Barmy
Imperial on Connecticut Ave
Calvert Woodley

If you want something unique, go to P street and get one of their barrel picks.

If you have time, your best bet is DMV spirits, near the Crate & Barrel on Mass Ave in Spring Valley. You can taste anything before you buy it. Just check to make sure they will be open before you go.

I went to the DMV Liquor, that was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for the tip!
