Come on, 99% of you aren’t big law gunslingers making $600k+. What’s the REAL average income for lawyers around here? I’ve seen so many resumes over the years with salary info. Most of you govt lawyers are in the $130-160k range. I even know an example of a govt lawyer with 30+ years exp. taking on and winning cases against massive corporations who is still only making $180k. My bro in law works for a nonprofit, earning about $88k. So, what are all of,you really making in DC. The average is more represented by the lawyers working for dc or fed, public servants for counties, small boutique firms, and nonprofits. |

Well duh the govt lawyer makes 180. There’s a govt pay scale, you can’t just pay what you want. |
Non profit attorney running a department. Fairly high stress and responsibility - $200k. |
Big law has about 5000 lawyers in dc. So yes there are a lot on here. But many more lawyers who make less. They are not on dcum. |

GS-15 gov attorney - $190k. Work about 45-50 hours a week so comparatively great work-life balance for the salary. Had I stayed in Biglaw I’d be around $350 but I’d also be working twice as much. |
Run two legal teams for a tech company. Work about 50-60 hours per week. Salary, RSUs and bonus equate to $800k. |
