Volleyball club- recap and thoughts

It just sounds very insecure. On the other hand, some of the less established clubs simply brag about their teams earning a spot in whatever bracket they ended up. It feels like a much better strategy.

Really? I haven’t noticed this. From my observation MVSA is comfortable in its lane…not one of the big dogs but do well enough. They know they will lose players to metro and paramount but not much they can do about it.

I feel like they’ve been trying to enhance their brand this season to perhaps stop the mass exodus of their best talent to Metro and Paramount. I know they recently named a recruiting coordinator (something which they’ve never officially had before), and it feels like their social media has been more aggressive. These all seem like moves designed to retain their talent as the girls get older.

Let’s not talk about how Metro illegally poached MVSA’s 16s setter this past tryout cycle after this player had already committed to MVSA in writing. This player accepted her offer in writing after MVSA’s tryouts, then Metro still proceeded to reach out to this player even though she had already committed to a club (which is a clear CHRVA violation). The most unfortunate part is Metro 16 T runs a 5-1 most of the time now, so she hardly ever plays….

I thought CHRVA won't allow a player to back out once committed to a team. How was she able to do that?

MVSA just not in a position to compete with those clubs but I think it is a good move to have a recruitment coordinator.

Wow, had no idea that is what happened with the setter, that is unfortunate. I know that the MVSA top 15s team from last year was gutted. I hope most of the girls that left are happy with their new clubs; the setter that is not getting playing time deserves better from Metro.

I don’t think MVSA expected so many of them to leave, but everybody has to look out for themselves; the club don’t have loyalty to players so can’t expect loyalty from players.

MVSA's 15's are going to the National division at USAV Nationals this year. They earned a Freedom bid at CHRVA bid regionals and then moved up due to reallocations and strong performances by other CHRVA teams. Metro is the National division as well, with Paramount in Open. This may be one of many factors with getting a recruiting specialist. MVSA has probably had enough of their developed talent leaving at the high school age level.

DD is a highly ranked played that doesn't play on we tro or paramount by choice. MVSA isn't even memtioned so recruiting coordinator or not MVSA doesn't warrent mention as having "top talent" that defects.

Who are the people commenting on this? It's either paramohnt and metro promotors or clueless know it all's. So wierd!

MVSA does have great talent in the younger age groups. They just tend leave for Metro or Paramount when they get to U14 or U15, which is why it makes sense that MVSA is trying new strategies to try to retain their talent.

I take it your daughter plays for VAJRS?

No she doesn't. Are you the VAJrs hater that consistently posts? You always seem to find a way to hate in VAJrs. There are other clubs that have and keep top talent, dear.

I didn’t read any hating on VAJrs from the PP. You said your kid is highly ranked but not at Metro or Paramount; it make sense that PP would enquire if it’s one of the other clubs known to have high ranked players.

Bit of a weird comment. VAE and VA Jnrs have both lost a ton of their talent to Metro and Paramount

Lurking here from Wilmington, DE. Trying to find out all the Renaissance gossip. Heard the DC 14s just quit and are possibly trying to sue?!
