I’m poster #2 to this thread. My border collie mix rescue is actually 30% APBT and 27.5% border collie, plus other breeds in smaller percentages. She’s white with black markings, including two black flippy floppy ears over a white face with black freckles, black rimmed eyes and white eyelashes. Her head is smallish and face is narrow like a border collie, and she weighs 38lb with a border collie build - lean and fast. People rush up to me at the park to pet her. The drive up at the bank and pharmacy give her two biscuits per visit and always ask to feed her by hand. She is incredibly pretty and people have actually shouted this to me while stopped at traffic lights - ‘your dog is so pretty!’ Many pit mixes don’t look like pitbulls. Personally I am not a fan of the blocky head ones with massive jaws because I’m a former prosecutor who has seen injury and autopsy photos of pit bull attacks on kids and adults both and those dogs scare me, I can’t get past it because I’ve seen the worst. I know it’s a very small percent of the pitbull dogs out there, but I’m still unsettled by such dogs. But yeah my pit mix is the best dog I’ve had over a lifetime with dogs and I’m very grateful she landed in my lap. If I’d known her DNA in advance I might not have adopted her and that would have been a massive loss. |
