Dance moms

What do you think??

I watch the show so I don't have to think. Abby sucks, the moms are ridiculous, and they don't show enough actual dancing.

Ha. I don't watch the show, but I would imagine this would sum it up.

Although Miss Piggy has gone on the Chris Christie diet, she's still as obnoxious as ever.

I can't watch. It's like seeing kids getting abused.

I still watch it, but I don't enjoy it as much as I used to. It seems like Abby is really playing up certain aspects of her 'character'- she acts much meaner/crazier now than she did in the first few seasons. I miss the original girls who aren't on the show anymore- especially Chloe! It's neat to see Maddie having such success in the wider arena though, good for her.

I still watch it occasionally. I DVR it and will watch it if I'm home alone in the evenings after the kids are in bed. I, too, miss the original dancers that have left, though I certainly understand why they did. I actually like the new "permanent" dancer, Kalani, I think, but get annoyed by the other rotation of new girls with obnoxious moms. Agree that Abby seems completely unhinged at points. I assume they are playing that up to promote conflict and drama. However, I'd be watching more religiously if the show was more focused on the dancing and the (original) girls as they grow and progress in their dancing. I can't be the only viewer that feels that way, but I guess they must feel like they have to bring in the crazy to get higher ratings. Or, maybe Abby really is that crazy and abusive on her own and all the screaming and tears and departures and lawsuits are just the natural result.

My mom was a dancer and watches it for the dancing and fast forwards through the fighting nonsense. Takes her about 10 minutes to watch the whole thing. They really should make a show that is about dance. I have a good friend who has a children's dance studio in the 'burgh and she just rolls her eyes with "don't get me started." Total nonsense.

Oh I would love to hear what she has to say!

Do these mothers never carpool to dance class? Once my kids were in the 10-12 age range, I dropped them off especially since the dance studio is in a safe place (not like baseball practice at the park). Why are the moms ALWAYS there showing cleavage and Sobeka jewelry? And the moms never mention to Abby that the PAY her for dance lessons. Okay, my rant is over.

I looked up the lawsuit. It turns out that Lifetime had these girls and their moms in an awful contract. All those times Abby scream "you have a contract!" I thought she meant with her, but no it was a very strong contract for SEVEN YEARS with Lifetime. The show ratings went up when Abby was crazy and abusive, so ... I feel awful watching it because I feel sorry for the girls, but its like a train wreck. The lawsuit is on line and very revealing.

I'm a former dancer and can't watch it. It's so unrealistic on every level. I had angry gay male Russian teachers, French old lady teachers, young broadway ego female teachers, but nobody talked to people this way.

My mother dropped me off, my father picked me up. They only talked with the parents of other dancers that I made friends with, and it was always polite and friendly. We were never pitted against each other. We never competed on such a regular basis, and always had a month or so to perfect routines, if not longer.

It's not "like" abuse. It is abuse.

This show is exploiting/abusing children and should be banned:

They did. "So You Think You Can Dance" is awesome.

I agree with the PP's who say Abby's obnoxious personality and outbursts are played up and/or staged. I also think Holly's behavior this season is completely fake -- it's so out of character for her, but they need someone to yell at Abby now that both Kelly and Christie are gone.
