What kind of dr do I go to pay for semagultide out of pocket?

My main dr called it in but all pharmacies are out of it and I am told its going to be awhile due to a nationwide shortage.

So...some way go to a "diet doctor". Most come up as a nutritionist and I don't want to walk in there and in the first minute say the only reasons I am here is to get a scrip for a semaglutide. Is that what people do?

Please let me know if you have experience with this and maybe any suggestions you may have in terms of finding it if I am willing to pay out of pocket?

It’s not up to the doctor. You need to find pharmacies that has this medication in stock in the USA.

Your other non conventional options are
1. Use Canadian pharmacy or get the meds from other country. Such as Canadian online pharmacy. Ask for papar prescription from you doc and submit it to online pharmacy

2. Try compound pharmacy…I m skeptical about this.

Many pharmacies are prioritizing diabetics fir ozempic prescriptions and won’t fill it fir non-diabetic patients. Did your dr prescribe Ozempic or Wegovy?

Yes you need a script. And you said in your post that Dr. wrote a script for you.
So ask your Dr. instead of writing an e script to that particular pharmacy, have your Dr. write a paper script so you can give it to the pharmacy that has your medication. What part of my post said that your don’t need a script?
Your issue isn’t your Dr. didn’t write you a script. Your issue is the medication you were prescribed is in shortage .

A different doctor can't help you. I paid a couple thousand dollars to one of these online weightloss tele-health companies because they were promising two things: 1) expertise at getting health insurance coverage for semaglutide meds, and 2) access to pharmacy networks that would allow me to get the medication from the few places that have it when there are shortages.

I get mine online, compounding pharmacy through a service. I get a three month supply all at once.

I use Ivim. It's a quick consult, then you sign up, and you get the syringes and semaglutide about a week later by mail. There is a subscription fee and that and their app are pretty much worthless, but I mostly cared about getting the medication so it did not matter to me. There are other many other services like Mochi, Henry...

How would a pharmacy know why it was prescribed? If you’re actually obese, then I wouldn’t feel bad about taking Ozempic. Obesity is a disease and there are only two medications that effectively treat it. There are numerous diabetes drugs.

Almost all type 2 diabetics are also on metformin as well or have a history of having tried metformin so it is easy to tell who is diabetic.

There aren’t other diabetic medications that are as effective in lowering blood sugar as Ozempic and monjauro. So obesity has so many health risks but if you have type 2 diabetes you are at a greater risk of complications like having a foot amputated or going blind.

Your doctor already gave you a prescription, you write, so why go to a different doctor? A new prescription isn't going to make a pharmacy magically come up with something it does not have.

The doctor is not the issue. The issue is there is a shortage of this med. you’re not getting it just because you doctor hop. I’m someone who had to discontinue use of Adderall for the same reason- pharmacies never had it. Wasn’t an issue of having money or a prescription or
Diagnosis, I had those: the meds aren’t there.

Please don’t use a compound pharmacy. The active ingredient is not the same. So you will be wasting your money or worse, taking something that has not been evaluated for safety and effectiveness.
