Oral Semaglutide

Has anyone tried the oral version? How does this differ from injections?

Under review for weight loss, but not yet approved. Weight loss dosage would be higher than current dosage for diabetes.

Rough on the digestive system for some. Doesn't work as fast as shots to drop the weight.

I took Rybelsus. I didn't even ask for it -- this was a couple of years ago when I had some knee pain and my doc couldn't fit me in so I saw her NP and she said "It's because of your weight, there's this new magic drug." I had horrible side effects (diarrhea, gas, ab pain, nausea) and didn't lose any weight before giving up on it after about a month.

I have been on it for five weeks. I’ve only lost four pounds but: I am full faster, there is a lot less food noise, I still REALLY love sugar but I feel like I am in control of it rather than it in control of me. My face is winnowing out and parts of my fat are deflating even though the scale hasn’t moved since the first week. That’s the food and weight end of it.

The other end of it is that I have so much more energy. You know how sometimes you plod up the stairs and it’s like a mental barrier to wanting to move? I bound up the stairs right now and I find it way easier in general to move. I have not been diagnosed with ADHD but it has been suggested to me by several different doctors that that’s me, and I am finding it far easier to concentrate. And my anxiety is essentially gone. It had been well managed for years, but kind of a background noise of it was there and now it’s not.

I do wish I could lose some weight but I’ll take the other stuff!

Is this Rybelsus? It has been around longer than Wegovy and Zepbound.

I’m the pp just before you. Mine is compounded semaglutide, so same thing basically as Rybelsus.

I’m on 1 mg of Rybelsus and haven’t gotten any benefits. I’m going to go back on Ozempic injections. Part of the problem for me is the highest dose of Rybelsus is 14 mg which is equivalent to about 1 mg of Ozempic. I needed 1.5 mg of Ozempic for weight loss. If you are someone who can lose weight on lower doses, it may be effective.

I took it. Rybelsus.

Felt really sick -- lots of nausea and stomach pain. Went off it within two months -- side effects didn't let up and I didn't lose weight. YMMV.
