If your kid goes to a school 8+ hours away, and you helped move them out of the dorm

I’m mid40s, hate driving…I would have been wiped and exhausted. Sounds like you did the best you could. Agree on hiring the movers, local storage etc. And on washing everything, that’s what a laundromat is for. Your kid can do it all on their own.

I am 40 and could do all that plus go for a run later in the day.

Just wait a few years. It’s all downhill from here.

I'm suggesting he bring the dolly I bought and he is arguing that it is "too heavy". DS is literally on the first floor of a dorm with a ramp entrance so I don't know what kind of nonsense he's talking about, but I will let him decide.

At 53 he is barely out of college himself!

My kid is only a four-hour drive away and I still have to spend the night. Driving any length of time like that makes me so tired.

Day 1- make the long drive
Day 2- load car and make the drive back

Sounds like poor planning. Some of this is preventable. But now you know and can adjust next time.

It wouldn’t hurt to do some light HIIT as others have mentioned.
